If you are looking for a sporting promotional product to give to your valued customers, then one of the most popular on the market, if not the most popular, is probably the logo golf balls. Small, compact, not too expensive but very practical and highly noticeable. These are an excellent promotional tool to be using.
But a bit of thought and careful planning is needed to get the best out of them when you are setting about to order your logo golf balls. Their highly unusual shape and size along with their ultimate intended use means that there are some considerations that you might not see in other products, such as the printed calendars and similar items.
For a start, golf balls are, obviously, a distinct spherical shape. The printing surface is certainly not flat, but forms part of the essential spherical shape to create a ball. Also, the printing surface of the golf ball is covered in many small dimples that give the ball the required trajectory when it is struck.
The printing area on a golf ball is also quite compact to get the best out of the printed logo. A huge print area being used would look not only distracting to the player trying to hit the ball, but because of the curved nature of the surface, most printed logos would be heavily distorted on the ball and badly reproduced. Hence the printing area is usually limited to a fraction of the ball to limit the distortion.
Another consideration is that the ball is designed to be hit hard in order to accelerate in a mere fraction of a second to potentially travel a couple of hundred yards through the air. The golf ball is likely to be soaking wet and pick up mud during the frequently wet games. The printing has to be durable.
So when you are considering printed golf balls, what should you look at when you are considering what to use for your logo? Well, in practice I have found that a round logo is better than a square or oblong printing area. It moulds better to the shape of the ball and suits the heavily curved shape of the printing area. Don’t go into small print and fine detail. Keep it clean and simple for the best effect. Allow for the ball’s small printing area and the punishment the ball is to receive whilst in use.
Also, remember that the ball can easily be printed on opposite sides. This means that you can make the best use of a small logo by printing it twice – once on either side of the ball, or have your website address one side with the telephone number given on the other.
